Obituary of Willard T. Rosebrough
Willard T. Rosebrough, 97, of Indianapolis passed away September 6, 2015. He was born August 15, 1918 in Indianapolis, IN to Clifford and Louise Rosebrough.
Willard served his country in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Fourth Infantry Division, 3rd Wave at Utah Beach on D-day, and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. After the war, Willard opened a hardware store with his brother, Elmer, and volunteered at the Wayne Township Fire Department, Company 8. Willard later worked for Farm Bureau Co-op for 15 years and he and Elmer built many decks in Indianapolis upon retirement. Willard attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 45 years. He was a lifelong lover of family, woodworking, and Hoosier basketball/Cubs baseball. A hero to his family, friends and country, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Willard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty; mother and father, Clifford and Louise; brother, Jack and sister, Mildred (Middaugh).
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Lorin) Lee; son, Greg (Denise) Rosebrough; identical twin brother, Elmer (Anna) Rosebrough; grandchildren, David, Lori, Derek, Paige, Erin and Matt; 6 great grandchildren and dear nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10 from 4pm – 8pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11 at 10 am in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 963 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 2439 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222.
