Obituary of Jack Thompson
Jack H. Thompson (81 years)
Feb. 1, 1933 - Nov. 29, 2014
He retired from Citizen Gas in 1993 after working there for more than 30 years. He only missed one day of work in 30 years, and that was due to the blizzard of 1978. Jack served in the Army during the Korean War as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman in Germany in 1953. He was a very involved father/grandfather coaching multiple little league sports, and was the world's biggest fan of his grandchildren's various sports. Jack taught all of them how to play multiple card games and to fish. He taught the neighborhood how to play all types of sports and water ski. Jack was a kid at heart, and would sometimes forget he was an adult.
He was known for this dry sense of humor and his tongue posing photographs, and loved his family holidays of playing croquet, horseshoes or badminton. Jack played guitar in a country music band, and enjoyed playing harmonica. He was a wonderful role model. . He taught us honesty, loyalty, dependability and hard work. His priority was his dear wife, Evelyn of 58 years. He would go with her to every appointment and anytime she needed him he would say, "I wouldn't miss being here; she is the Love of my Life." May he rest in peace and be with his family in heaven. We will miss you!
Jack is survived by wife of 58 years, Evelyn Thompson; sons, Dave (Kathy) Thompson and Donny (Donna) Thompson and daughter, Christy (John) Ewing; 4 grandchildren, Amanda (Krista) Ewing, Rebecca (Chris) Wright, Adam (Christina) Thompson and Mitch Ewing, and 1 great grandson, William Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marguerite Thompson; brother, Ralph Edward Thompson and sister, Imogene O'dell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 10 am - 12 pm with a funeral service at 12 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. Interment will be in Floral Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Society, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830 or online at www.alz.org.
