Obituary of Harry Dempsey
Harry Gerald Dempsey Sr., 81, of Indianapolis died on Saturday February 22, 2014. He was born to Howard Ray and Blanche (Wolford) Dempsey in Indianapolis on March 2, 1932, both precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by both wives, in 2004 his first wife, Mrs. Patricia May Dempsey passed away to whom he was married for 48 years. His second wife, Mrs. Jonell Dempsey passed away in 2011 to whom he was married for 5 years.
Harry worked for Peerless Pump from 1958 until 1967, then later worked for Freightliner, a truck manufacturer until his career changed and then became a union representative for local 716 Teamsters Union. Harry served proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Charity Tabernacle Church for 52 years (now called the Charity Church). Harry loved spending time with his family and enjoyed golf, travel and fishing.
Harry is survived by his son, Harry G. (Angie) Dempsey Jr.; daughters, Susan P. (James T.) Dusina, Kathy E. Jennings, Deanna L. Dempsey; grandchildren, Harry G. Dempsey, Jasmine Dempsey, Joseph Dempsey, Joseph V. Jennings, Shannon Jennings, Kyle Dusina, Amy (Ryan) Cooley and Sam Dempsey; great-granddaughters, Annika Dempsey, Alexa Dempsey and Christina Cooley; step-children, Vickie Wagner and Mark Hayton.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Charity Church, 2700 S. Tibbs Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46241.
