Obituary of John David Burns
John D. Burns, 90, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at home in the presence of his loving family. John was born in 1933 in Martinsville, Indiana to Charles and Inez (Pearcy) Burns.
On January 5, 1995, he married Sandy (Phelps) Burns. John leaves behind his legacy of loving family members. Their children are Terry Burns, Susan Carmichael, David Burns, Mark Burns and stepdaughters Sheri West and Laura (Steve) Bundy. John also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren: Stacy Henry, Dylan Burns, Jordin Brown, Jeremy (Alisha) Burns, Tiffany Studer, Brittany (Alexi) Carmichael, Steven Bundy, Sean Bundy and Erin (Josh) Kelly,. Together, they have 19 Great grandchildren and 3 Great-great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Granddaughter Erin for being Papaw’s nurse during this entire process.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife, Peggy (Carr) Burns, brother Harold Burns and sister Virginia Cook.
John received an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America on December 17, 1957. He retired from Diamond Chain after 30+ years of dedicated service.
John loved going to auctions, garage sales and flea markets. You could find him at Bargersville flea market every Sunday until the flea market closed. He loved to work with his hands restoring tools and antiques for re-sale.
Dad/Papaw/Great Grandpa will be truly missed by all.
