Obituary of Matthew Pieper
Matthew Scott Pieper Passed away from this world into the next on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the age of 31. In his short life he taught others to measure wealth by the love of family and friends. He discovered that his happiness was achieved only by how much of it he could bring to others. He found joy in sharing the wonderment of life with the many children in his life. A simple man, with no greater ambition than to serve others, he left this earth with few material possessions. The treasures of his life are the hearts and love of everyone who were blessed to know him. Although his simple and loving life was often misunderstood by some who did not take the time to know him, those who looked beyond appearances and circumstances and glimpsed into the gentle soul of Matthew received a gift so wonderful that may never come their way again. His life was a long quest to find where he could help others, to see where he fit in, and to give and receive unconditional love. Matthew was not always perfect in his human decisions, but he lived life with a perfect and loving heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Because everyone who knew him grew to love him. Those left to remember his hearty laugh and simple joys include his parents, Don and Christine; brothers, Don, Christopher and Scott; grandmother, Jean Pieper; aunts, Connie Dawson, Roma Ward, Lorraine Wasson, Carol Green, Janet Dickinson, Kim Renner; uncles, Karl and Scott Derr; numerous cousins and countless friends. May all hearts that he touched reach out and touch someone else in honor of Matthew. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 31 at Woodruff Place Baptist Church, 1739 E. Michigan St. at 11:30 a.m. All are invited to tell touching or funny stories, or share ways that their lives were touched by Matt. Condolences and messages may also be left at www.matthew-pieper.com. Arrangements were entrusted to Stevens Mortuary & Family Center: www.stevensmortuary.net
