My condolences to the family. The loss of a loved one is never easy but please find comfort in God's word the bible that says that there is going to be a resurrection. Acts 24:15 says there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, and with this hope it is possible to see him again. I am so sorry for your loss, and the McGovern family I lost my Mom recently and have found death to leave me with a feeling of helplessness. May I leave you this word of encouragement that has helped me. The Bible says that God hates death; he views it as an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15: 26) He has "a yearning" to conquer that enemy, to undo death by means of the resurrection.
