Obituary of Wilma Bauer

WILMA GERALDINE "JEAN" (Brewer) BAUER, passed away Sunday evening, October 4, 2015, surrounded by love and her family. She was 84 years old. Jean was born January 9, 1931, in Daviess County in southern Indiana. She grew up as the only child of Paul Austin Brewer (1899-1982) and Catherine Sophia (Wilson) Brewer (1895-1988) on a beautiful farm near Corning, Indiana. She graduated from Alfordsville High School in 1949, and later married Clifford K "Tip" Bauer. Tip and Jean moved to Indianapolis where they started their own family: 1. Paul Alan Bauer in 1951 2. John Christian Bauer in 1952 3. Joyce Ann (Bauer) Farr in 1954 4. Elaine Kay Bauer in 1964 5. Lynn Marie (Bauer) Rowland in 1966 6. Lee Maureen (Bauer) Dyer in 1967 She cherished her 6 children and their spouses, along with her 9 grandchildren, (Jason Edwards, Gordon Bauer, Amy Bauer Lutz, Rod Bauer, Jill Farr Meyer, Amanda Bauer, Andrea Bauer Lievertz, Cory Maskivish, Sara Bauer Leggins) and 11 great grandchildren, (Cody and Caitlin, Lainie, Alivia, Aubrey, Tinley, and Hadley, Chandler and Hudson, Lucy, and Gracie). She loved learning, traveling, history and geography, all the stray dogs and cats we brought home - especially kittens, as well as meaningful discussions about religion and politics. She enjoyed playing Dominoes, Chinese Checkers, and cards. She was an excellent euchre player, as was her mother! She enjoyed sewing, and she made most of our clothes when we were children - which, of course, we didn't appreciate at the time :) In her later years it was the sight of her grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her the most joy. She passed away with love in her heart, and knowing she was loved by her family, friends, the entire staff at Wellbrooke of Avon, and her care team from Seasons Hospice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7 from 12 pm – 2 pm with a funeral service at 2 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls.
