Joseph T. Schmutte, 81, of Indianapolis passed away January 28, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 22, 1933 to John A. and Bertha (Hagan) Schmutte who preceded him in death. Joseph was a brave and courageous fireman for the Indianapolis Fire Department for 29 years and also enjoyed retirement for 29 years. He is survived by his wife, Pamela G. Schmutte; children, Douglas (Donna) Schmutte, Donna Andrew and John Schmutte; step son, Richard (Guadalupe) Holder; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Helen Schell; sister-in-law, Pat Schmutte and several nieces and nephews. . Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1 from 12 pm - 3 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2 at 10 am in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 6000 W. 34th St., Indpls.
