Charles Keen, 89, of Indianapolis passed away July 5, 2014. He was born April 1, 1925 to Allen E. and Era (Hunt) Keen, both preceding him in death. Charles was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church and was a life member of the American Legion, Post 64 and V.F.W., Post 1587. He proudly served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. Charles enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos and gambling, fishing and gardening. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Charles was also a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Virgil Keen and sisters, Evelyn Smith and Elizabeth Keen. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Virginia L. (Gibbons) Keen who he was married to for 70 years; daughter, Kathryn (Larry Gazvoda) Messer; son, Edward Keen; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 4 pm - 8 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 11 am with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will be held in West Ridge Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 3100 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208-4718.
