First Visitation
Condolences
It's hard to believe that tomorrow 1/15/15 Daddy has been gone for a year. Funny how when you were a kid, the days seemed to last forever! (especially the summer when you were out of school and running wild all over the neighborhood!). But now that I'm grown, the days pass way too fast.
I've thought of him often over the course of the past year. Missed him more than I ever imagined and hope that he is happy and smiling in heaven with all of his family that have left this earth too soon. I know that he is definately having fun, telling silly jokes, fishing and playing pool, maybe finding time for a chess game or two.
I love you Daddy! I'm not ready to join you just yet, but I'm really looking forward to hanging out with you when I get there with you! I know we will have some laughs!!
I have so many wonderful memories of my dad...he and spent countless hours fishing and camping at Mershon's Lake. He taught me how to catch blue gill and bass like a pro all from the bank. But of all of these great memories, my most favorite are when we would go morrell mushroom hunting in the woods of southern Indiana. We would get up at the crack of dawn to drive into the chosen wooded area. By sun up, we would begin walking into the woods starting our search for the largest one of the day. Daddy would make a game of whomever found the largest one, he would give them a dollar bill! Big money to a 7 year old for sure. He always knew just the right spot to find them, and always find a way for me to find the sweet spot 'by accident' with his gentle direction.
Those of you that knew Joe Mullen knew a great friend. My father taught me so much of how to be a parent and a grown up by modeling the right behavior for me to learn first hand. He was tough as nails on us girls when we were in high school (it's a wonder he didn't lose his mind during those years!) but the lessons learned we've taken into our adulthood and the parenting of our children.
I love you Daddy! I will miss you every day of my life but will always remember how much you loved me. Rest in peace Rodriguez Gonzalez!
So sorry I can't be there. Jake and I are in Florida until Wednesday. You are all in my thoughts and prayer. Lots of memories. Thanks for all the pictures of Joe and Dad. They were great buddies.
One of my fondest memories of your Dad (Joe) was when we were camping in the camper in the driveway when you guys came to visit us in NJ and we were talking to boys through the camper windows and your Dad and Gene came out and scared the boys and chased them away, was priceless! Needless to say we didn't get to campout after that, but was fun just the same. Also of all of the good memories of your Dad he was always so funny and always smiling, always good to us and my girls as well. We Love you Joe say hi to my dad for me!!
Becky, although I won't be able to be with you on Sunday I will be with you in spirit and in prayer. My heart goes out to you and your sisters in the lose of your father, to your mother in the lose of a husband and partner for so many years, your children and grandchildren in the lose of there grandpa. He's in heaven now and no longer suffering. He will always be with you in your heart. Love you....

During this difficult time we would like to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to the Mullen Family. While we didn't know your father personally, he had to be a very special man to have such a wonderful daughter. Becky, we love you and are here to help in any way. All Our Love
