Condolences
I had the privilege of meeting Gloria (Mrs. Howe)over 30 years ago. I was sad to learn she had passed and my condolences go out to her much beloved family. She was so thoughtful and giving. Our whole family was able to enjoy her kindness and generosity over the years.
I met Mrs. Howe through my work. I soon found that we shared a career and have many coworkers in common. I always enjoyed when she came in. I would take a few minutes to talk with her. Though the time I knew her was brief, I could tell that she was very sweet and kind lady. She was a pleasure to serve and my colleagues and I will miss her. Our sympathies go out to her family.
My parents, Dick & Rita Mayer have known the Howe's for decades. Our family business was a frequent client of Neal's over the years. Whether it was a party at our office, July 4th @ our office to watch the fireworks from the then INB Tower, Family Christmas Parties or just going to dinner you could tell they were all very good friends. Their kids met "our kids", etc....
As I have read in numerous other entries here and I couldn't agree more, Gloria was always so kind-hearted and genuine in her interest in everyone, including me as a very young person at the time I first met her. She never forgot a name or a face. It was always nice to see her and Neal together as you could see they were meant for each other.
I hope that at some point soon my parents will have an opportunity to visit with Neal as they were not able to attend the services for Gloria.
To Neal and the rest of the Howe Family, you have my thoughts and prayers as you move forward. The Mayer Family will always hold Gloria near to our hearts!
God Bless and Peace to each of you during this difficult time of change in your lives.
Rick, Rob, Mick, Steve and Michele Mayer on behalf of our parents, Dick and Rita Mayer of Geo. L Paetz & Sons, now Mayer Paetz, INC.
Mr Howe, I was sorry and saddened to hear of Mrs. howe's passing. I worked @ IU Health West and retired on 12/13/2013. I had told her I was retiring, she was so happy for me. I was afraid that might be the last time I saw her. She will always be one of my favorite patients! She was always so kind & so grateful for everything we did for her. Oh my goodness, and the candy and homemade baked goods she was always bringing. They were always enjoyed and appreciated by all the nurses. Please know I will always think of hear with special fondness. Please take care & know you will be in my prayers. She was always so concerned about you. I am a member of St Michael parish too, not sure you would recognize me. Please take care. With deepest sympathy, Sharon Buckles
I met Gloria, my next door neighbor, and her dear husband Neal, when we moved next door in 1989. Gloria... what a perfect name. Angel of God. So many thoughts come to mind when I remember Gloria, and I hope you will forgive me for simply writing what comes to mind when I think of her.... Words of wisdom, freely shared, Grace. A smile winning over pain. Cut flowers on my doorstep. Priceless books of of childhood stories. "Welcome to the neighborhood, these are your neighbors." Returning home from the hospital to find Gloria waiting to comfort me. Christmas visits with my boys. Paper towels wrapped around flower stems left on my doorstep Special lunches in her home for each son. Kindness. Strength beyond any strength I can perceive. Birthday cards with special gifts. Carmelites and Guardian Angels. Ever present at family celebrations. Wisdom. Kindness. Angel. Letters written. Children lifted. Always giving. I will miss you dear Gloria, you are family to me and ours. I will always remember you. God Bless you and your incredible soul. Love, Carole
Dearest Neal and family, My sincerest condolences for the loss of your beloved Gloria. Whenever Neal spoke of his beautiful wife it was with such love and affection that on more than one occasion I was moved by the warmth of his words. May God wrap you in his love and comfort you all during this difficult time. I am sorry I could not be there in person to convey my condolences but you were in my thoughts and prayers. Much love to all, Nancy Gerde (Priority Engineering)
Gloria was such a special lady. She was an intelligent, kind, caring,
loving and giving person. She was truly an Angel. She will be missed
by everyone that knew her. God bless Neal and the family.
Annie Yane and Mary Urgo were inseparable sisters, one year apart. Gloria Yane Howe and Joe Urgo were born the same year and grew up almost as brother and sister. We could write a book about the memories, the good times, the not so good times but we won't! Gloria met Neal and they were perfect for each other, generous, thoughtful, sensitive and loving. Although they were living in Indianapolis they kept the Cleveland families close to the very end. We will miss Gloria terribly. She is now in Heaven with Annie, Mary and all the others.
My mom, Mary Zupancic counted Gloria and Neal among her very dearest friends. After my father passed away, Gloria and Neal "adopted" mom and made sure they picked her up for mass every Sunday. They became very close friends and spent a lot of time together. Mom would say that she never met anyone as kind and as giving as Gloria. Every now and then mom would like to "gossip." She would mention a bit of gossip to Gloria, but to no avail! Gloria would always turn a negative into a positive, and mom realized early on that Gloria was too nice to disparage anyone. Mom admired that trait in her friend.
My immediate family got to know Gloria and Neal through mom and loved both of them just as mom had. They often sent notes of encouragement to my daughter who suffers from arthritis, they visited her in the hospital a number of times after a surgery, they called and emailed us to let us know that she was in their thoughts and they prayed for her good health. They always made an effort, and sometimes it really was an effort, to show their compassion and concern for our family and for other people in need of their consideration.
Gloria and Neal were a team. They worked together to bring love and joy to their friends and to anyone who needed some TLC. They made my mom's life better just for knowing them, and they have done the same for us. Together, they touched our lives, and we will be forever grateful for their love and kindheartedness.
We loved Gloria and will miss her. She was a wonderful friend who touched our lives in a very special way, and her love and selflessness will live on in the example she set for us.
In our saddness over Gloria's passing, we find comfort in knowing that she and mom are continuing their friendship in heaven where she will love and be loved by everyone she comes in contact with.
Farewell to a lovely lady and a wonderful friend.
Aunt Gloria was the most genuine person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Our family has been blessed beyond measure because she was a part of it. A few months ago Aunt Gloria told me one of the biggest regrets she had is not getting to live to see what the kids grow up to do because she knows it will be something amazing. She will get to watch over them now and will see what becomes of them. That makes me happy. It does though make me sad that my kids only had Aunt Gloria for such a short time of their lives. We are better people for knowing this incredible woman. We love you
Gloria was very faithful to her Catholic heritage. She recruited me for the 6:30 a.m. Communion Service. At the time, she had served as the only female Eucharistic Minister for the early morning service. Rest in the peace of Christ.
Aunt Gloria always listened with love and acceptance. She always had the kindest and most helpful advice and encouragement. She was so wise and loving and will be truly missed.
Dearest Neal and family, Words can't express our deep sorrow in the loss of our precious friend Gloria. She was such a kind and caring person who was a Prayer Warrior to the end. Always thinking of others before herself. We will miss her sweet smile, kind ways and our visits at the lake. We pray that God gives you strength to get through this difficult time. God bless you. With love and prayers. Tom and Mary Annette Poynter
Aunt Gloria brought a smile to your face and a comfort to your heart every time you saw her. She was always so warm and kind. One of the best listeners that ever graced this earth. It didn't matter what problems she might have had or worries that might have been on her mind, she always cared more for your needs and what you had to say. Heaven is an even better place now that she has gone home. We love you and will miss you Aunt Gloria. Robert,Shannon,Kathryn, and Jacob Howe.

Gloria was our oldest cousin in the Yane family and what a shining example of kindness and love we had to emulate. Gloria was caring and always interested in what you were doing. A great listener. She was the one who kept the family together. What she may have lacked in physical strength was overshadowed by her strength of spirit. We will miss you dear Gloria. Our loss is heavens gain.
