Obituary of John Baker
John Outlaw Baker III, 76, of Indianapolis passed away December 27, 2013. He was born on December 12, 1937 in Taylor, TX to the late Mr. John Outlaw and Mary B. (Bunnell) Baker. John was born to coach. Students and Players were very special to him. He believed in teaching the whole child, not just subject matter. Although he'd retired from coaching he never stopped coaching. During the season he coached in his sleep every night. Loudly sometimes. He watched every sport all the time and his wife, Jessyln enjoyed them with him. He became involved with the Lions Club and applied the same fervor to them that he had to Football.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Jesslyn Baker; son, John David Baker, Houston, TX; daughters Jeannene Henderson, Jacquelyn Hamilton and Jill Murry; step children Gail Prather, Lynn Williams, Brian Lowder, Melody Lowder and Jonathan Lowder; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation and gathering will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 12 pm - 4 pm in Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis. Interment will follow in Taylor, TX.
