Elizabeth "Connie" Godan, 88, of Indianapolis passed away September 16, 2013. She was born August 14, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN to George and Rebeca Rus. Connie was an outgoing woman who made many friends wherever she went. She was a loving wife to Virgil for 57 years and a caring and proud mother to Mike and Rick. Although beset by numerous maladies in her later years, she maintained a cheerful disposition throughout. Connie worked at McCormick Lumber Company on the Westside of Indianapolis for many years as a secretary/treasurer, and concluded her working life as the office manager for R.J. Moore Commercial Real Estate Company. She enjoyed golf and bowling while she was physically able, participating in leagues with her many friends. Connie was a long time member of the Sts. Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, being the last couple married in the old downtown church and baptizing the first child in the new church on west 16th street. She truly devoted many hours to the church over the years. Many thanks to the staff at the Harrison Retirement Community for helping make Connie's final years happy and safe. Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Virgil Godan, who passed away in 2004 and her sisters, Mary Howard and Louise Sipe. She is survived by her sons, Michael and Richard Godan; daughter in laws, Linda and Carmie Godan; grandsons, Daniel and Todd Godan and sister, Ann Otto. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 4 pm - 7 pm with a wake service at 6:30 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46224. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20 at 11 am in Sts. Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, 3237 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222. Father David Wey officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church.
