Obituary of Clifford Polley

Clifford E Polley, 73, of Indianapolis passed away September 5, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis on July 7, 1940 to Margaret Sanford, Carl W. and Elizabeth (Matthias) Polley and is preceded in death by all his parents. Clifford was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Megan McCallister Hinds and great-grandson Devic Hinds. Clifford proudly served his country in the Navy, honorably discharging in 1962. He served on the Indianapolis Fire Department as a firefighter for 21 years, retiring in 1985. He also owned the Midwest Monument Company for 15 years and was a City Metro Bus Driver. He served on the supervisory board for the Firefighters Credit Union, was a member of Local #416 Union, the Retired Firefighters Club, was the past president of the Northwest Lions Club and was a member of the Emerald Society. Cliff was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years to whom he married in June of 1988, Margaret Polley; children, Debra K. (Alen) Hinds, Cheryl Lynn (Albert) Nance, Clifford E. (Mari) Polley and Dianna L. Johnson; sister, Jackie (Gene) Foster, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9 from 3 pm - 8 pm at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10 at 10 am also at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
