One of the biggest thrills of my childhood was getting to spend the week, in the big city, at the Vince & Pat Helmer's. The music of the ice cream truck was a new and thrilling sound for a little country girl. All of my cousins went racing into the house. I was close behind but, sadly, I knew I had no money for ice cream. One by one, they lined up and Aunt Pat pulled a coin out of her purse for each. Then she beckoned me over with such a sweet smile and said, "Here is your coin for ice cream, Julia". I will never forget her beautiful face her lovely hands and her loving embrace. I wouldn't trade the feeling she gave me for a million dollars. I love you Aunt Pat, Julie
There could be no one as sweet and gentle and kind as my Aunt Pat. She was an angel on earth so she should be in good compnay in heaven! Love and peace to all my dear cousins, Julie
Dear Hellmer Family, If you ever wondered about the value of a big family....you surely must know now that God knows how much we need one another. To loose both Chris and your mom must have elements of disbelief and of great blessing. Know that my prayers are with you all. Love to all. Barb Leek

Some of you may not believe that the youngest of 11 Georges daughter has much to say..... after all, I was at the end of the line for many things. I will make this short,. because it is. HOWEVER I have memories, just as all you "old hides" do. :] Aunt Pat was such a beauty to me. I was little, skinny, and kinda tom boyish. I remember going to her house, played outside alot in the backyard. with all the big kids. the beauty of this? is when I went inside to find her. she would ALWAYS get me a nice cold drink, and a snack when everyone else was to busy. gave me some kind words, then I was back out the door. one of my memories that stand so tall? In the few minutes it took this to happen? I remember.... how pretty her hair was, and how nice she smelled. what a beautiful woman, and she would always touch my shoulder when she spoke to me.I knew she had time for me. I ran out the side door with a grin. Thanks aunt pat, and thank all you other "old hides" for sharing her!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!! Babth's
