Obituary of Robert Ping
Robert "Buck" Ping, 68, of Indianapolis passed away October 13, 2012. He was born on June 18, 1944 to Marie and Lewis Ping. He was the middle of 3 children, Kathy Huffman and Larry Ping.
Buck was a graduate of Decatur High School. He joined the Marine Corps in April 1965 and was discharged honorably in November 1970. During his enlistment, he served in Vietman as a sea going Marine on the Bon Homme Richard. He married his wife, Linda Dooley on November 10, 1968. After leaving the military, he worked at Indiana Bell/Ameritech where he retired. After retiring, he opened and ran his own telecommunications company for the next 5 years. He and his wife, Linda, had and raised 3 children, Kimberly Osborn, Sonya Watson and Robert Ping. They have been blessed with 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. His happiest times were fishing on his boat with family, hunting and watching his Indianapolis Colts and IU Basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Denem and Lewis Ping; father-in-law, Robert Dooley and mother-in-law, Pat Dooley.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda K. Ping; daughters, Kimberly Osborn and Sonya Watson; son, Robert Ping; sons-in-law, Paul Osborn and Scott Watson; grandchildren, Dustin Whiteman, Shelbi Osborn, Chelsea Osborn, Kaylee Watson, Zachery Watson and Audrey Ping; great granddaughter, Elliot Whiteman; sister, Kathy Huffman; brother, Larry Ping; sister-in-law, Sharon Evans; brothers-in-law, Don Huffman and George Dooley and 7 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 3 pm - 7 pm in Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A funeral service will be Wednesday, October 17 at 11 am also at the mortuary. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery.
