Obituary of Robert Jackson

Robert "Bob" M. Jackson, 88, of Brownsburg, passed away June 14, 2012. He was born August 27, 1923 in Indianapolis to the late Charles and Lura Jackson. Bob was in the U.S. Navy during WWII for four years aboard the LST 483. He was second class radioman while in the South Pacific and the Aleutians. He was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Company retiring in December 1983 after 38 years. Bob worked in cable installation, repair, PBX and was a Service Control Center Supervisor. Bob enjoyed many activities such as playing golf, working crossword puzzles, watching sports, traveling, gardening, coin collecting and spending time with his two grandchildren. He loved his great granddoggies, Zoey, Rocky and Elsa. Bob belonged to the K of C #3682, was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Indiana Bell Telephone Pioneers and the LST National and Indiana associations. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles "Jeep" Jackson and William "Bill" Beal and sister, Louise Mabee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Humane Society of Indianapolis. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brownsburg Health Care, 1010 Hornaday Road, for their genuine care and compassion. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Betty (Winton) Jackson; daughter, Debbie (Joe) Stevens; granddaughter, Kimberly (Nathan) Dexter; grandson, Joseph Stevens III and many nieces and nephews. ******************************************************************************************************* Thank you for being a kind, gentle and loving husband.
