Obituary of Louis Szakel
Louis "Louie" M. Szakel 78, of Indianapolis, passed away February 3, 2010. He was born June 3, 1931. Louie enjoyed working for Horner Electric, after retiring from Witco-Richardson. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Hendricks Co. Flying Association as a pilot, after receiving his private pilot license at the age of 50 and was a certified scuba diver. Louie was preceded in death by his son, Michael P. Szakel. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Radez) Szakel; sons, Tony (Dawn) and David Szakel; daughters, Barbara (Carl) Daugherty, Theresa Farrell, Chris (Bob) Kelly and Mary (Mark) Bruce; sister, Carolyn Smith; brothers, Joe and Jimmy Szakel; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat., February 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1401 S. Mickley Ave., Indpls., at 2:00 p.m., with visitation there beginning at 11:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Wheeler's Mission.
