Obituary of Vernard Sharp
Vernard R. Sharp 88, of Indianapolis, passed away October 26, 2009. He was born December 30, 1920. Vernard graduated from the Evangelistic Institute and worked for Detroit Diesel Allison Indianapolis Operations as a skilled machinist for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was an avid reader and shared his love of the harmonica, the gospel and humor with the world, telling jokes right up until his last breath. Vernard was a retired UAW member and a member of the Brooklyn Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Sharp and sister, Wilma Waite. Survivors include his son, James L. (Dodie) Sharp; daughters, Beverly J. (Jack) McCoun-Freehill, Karen J. Lamkin and Pamela S. Waggoner; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Burch-Olken, Amanda (Demetrius) Daniels, Tom (Leslie) Lamkin and Jamie (Rob) Murphy; 2 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Stevens Mortuary & Family Center, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
