Obituary of Shirley J. Bell
Shirley Joan (Westerfield) Bell, 96, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was the rock of our family. She may be gone but the ripples she leaves behind should sustain us for a great many years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Georgianna (Gabbert) Westerfield, husband Charles Bell, brothers John Clifford, Jimmy, Gilbert, and Calvin, sisters Gloria, LaDonna, Emma Lorraine, and Sharon, and son-in-law Lanny Parsley.
She is survived by her children Michael (Patricia) Bell, Susan Parsley, Pamela (John) Barrett, Maureen (Michael) Conner, Jeffery (Melissa) Bell, and Brenda (Gordon) Vincent; brother Donald Westerfield, and sisters-in-law Mary Del Westerfield and Anita Westerfield; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, numerous treasured nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and her very special caregiver Becky Brown who made it possible for her to be comfortable in her home until the very end.
The visitation will be held Sunday, January 26th from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27th at 11:00am at St Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway, with visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service.
No graveside services will be held.
Donations in Shirley’s name can be made to The Salvation Army or St Christopher Catholic Church.
