Obituary of Larry Ray Poland

Larry Ray Poland, 79, of Marshall, Indiana, passed away August 15, 2024, in Brownsburg, Indiana. Larry was born in Clinton, Indiana, to Mable and Russell Poland on March 8, 1945. He attended Mecca High School and graduated in 1963 with the honored distinction of 12 years perfect attendance. He grew up on his parents’ farm in Rockville, Indiana, where he was heavily involved in 4H and learned of his love for the outdoors.

After graduation he joined the Army and served in the Panama Canal as a radar technician. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He then went on to work in the vending service industry his entire career. He loved fishing, gardening, animals, his children, and his grandchildren. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Connie Poland of Marshall, Indiana, (her children and grandchildren); his children, Sarah Johnson and Henry Ross (Angela); his grandchildren, Brittany Flagle, Jade Johnson, Brayden Johnson, Danielle Ross, Jacob Ross, and step-granddaughter, Madison Chase; his siblings, Phyllis Pruner, Jeanette Uplinger (John) and Alva Poland (Corine). He is preceded in death by his parents, Mable, and Russell Poland.

Indianapolis, Indiana.  Life’s Journey Hospice (Donate) We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the nurses, Lezley, Susan, and Adam, as well all the staff from Life’s Journey Hospice. The support and care they gave us made a huge impact and now hold a special place in our hearts.
Our Dad was a simple man and a good father. We were blessed to have some very good days in the last month of his life. We knew how much he loved us, and he knew how much we loved him. That is all anyone can ask for.


A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7 th from 1 – 3 pm at Sarah’s home, 245 Watercress Way, Brownsburg, IN.
