Obituary of Elsworth Clyde Cochran
Elsworth Clyde “Elzie” Cochran, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 years of age. Elzie served proudly in both the United States Navy for one year and the United States Air force for three- and one-half years. After his service Elzie started as a brick mason in 1955 and retired in the year 2000 from R.L. Turner, Corp. A member of St. Christopher Catholic Church for over 41 years. Elsworth always volunteered in the casino at the church’s annual festival. He also served as an usher and greeter for Sunday Mass. Elzie enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, slot machines at the casino and going to the Indy 500. He loved having the family together and spending quality time. Elsworth most of all loved spending time with his beloved wife for over 69 years, Marjorie Hopkins Cochran, who survives to cherish his memory. He is also survived by his children Joe (Lisa) Cochran, Cindy (John) Fewell and Sue (Randall) Brown; grandchildren Jon (Cortney) Powers, Melissa (Jordan) Mathis and Kaitlin Cochran; step grandchildren, Andrew “Drew” (Laura) Brown, Randall “RJ” (Megan) Brown Jr., and Blake (Katelyn) Brown; 7 great grandchildren and sister Bettie Winkel. Elsworth is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ermal Cochran; brothers Harold, Johnny and Robert Cochran. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by both Rev Michael Welch and Rev. Paul Shikany at St. Christopher Catholic Church 5301 W. 16th Street Indianapolis, IN 46224 on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Interment to follow at 2:30 PM at Calvary Cemetery.
