Obituary of Anthony James West

Anthony James ‘Tony’ West, 55 of Speedway Indiana passed away on the morning of June 8, 2024, at home. 

The visitation and funeral service will be held at St Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway on June 25, 2024.  Visitation will be from 9 to 11am with the funeral service at 11am.  Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery located at 5252 W 52nd St. 

Tony was born in Indianapolis to Brenda Wyatt on April 2, 1969.  He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1987.  While Tony played sports in school his main love was music.  He played percussion for the award-winning show choir, Spotlighters.  He was also on the honor roll and wrote for the school newspaper.  After high school, Tony went to IU Bloomington to study music.  When Tony came back home from college, he played in several bands while working at IUPUI in the audio/video dept until he moved to the undergraduate admissions office.  Tony and his wife Debbie met at Don Lynn music store in Plainfield, Indiana.  The sparks flew and they were together every day until Tony’s passing.

Tony loved listening to music and playing music.  He also enjoyed a good horror movie.  Tony was most happy just spending time with his wife and two boys.     

Tony is survived by his wife Debbie West of 31 years, their two boys, James and Matthew West, and his mother Brenda Wyatt.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather Larry Wyatt and grandparents James and Mae West.
