Obituary of Florence Miskowiec
Florence Miskowiec, 90, of Speedway, Indiana passed away on April 21, 2024. Florence was born in Indianapolis in July of 1933 to parents Christ and Turpa Kazacoff, both of whom migrated, with their families, to the US from the village of Zelniche in what is today Macedonia to begin a better life in the United States. Florence spoke the Macedonian language as a child and up to the day she passed. She enjoyed Macedonian food and cultural activities her entire life.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1951, Florence married the love of her life, Raymond, in 1952 and they were married for 44 years. She always had a lifelong passion for music and loved singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed watching old films, playing dominos and was very skilled and generous in the kitchen. But her favorite joy in life was spending time with family and friends. Florence was a devoted matriarch who loved her family unconditionally with dedication and generosity. A member of St Stephens Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church, Florence was involved in the Sisterhood. Anytime she met someone, she would remember an old song and sing for them. She had an irreverent sense of humor inflected with a flair for sarcasm and truth telling.
Florence is survived by her daughter Patricia (Bill) Stokes, sons Richard Miskowiec, Timothy Miskowiec, and daughter-in-law Leslie Miskowiec: 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Preceded in death: parents Turpa and Christ Kazacoff, her husband Raymond, her son Tom, sister Mary Klemen and brother Louis Kazacoff.
The family of Florence will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at St. Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church 1435 Medford Ave Indianapolis, IN 46222 followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will also be held at St. Stephen at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be directed to St Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church 1435 Medford Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
