Obituary of Philip Earl Stewart
Philip Earl Stewart, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 with family by his side. He was born June 8, 1936 in Petersburg, IN to the late Earl “Pete” and Esther (Phillips) Stewart. He graduated from Petersburg High School and Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at Indiana Bell in 1957 until his retirement in 1991. He served on the board of directors for Indiana Telco Credit Union for many years. He worked as a golf pro for Riverside Golf Course after retirement. He was an avid golfer for many years and was on a bowling team up until a couple of years ago. He has been a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church since he and his wife, Donna moved to Indianapolis after being married in 1957. He enjoyed spending time with and traveling on vacations during summer breaks with his family. Phil was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan, but most of all we can’t forgetPurdue Boilermaker fan. Phil is survived by his wife, Donna of 67 years; daughter Sherry (Steve); daughter Laurel (Brad) and Nancy (Mike); grandchildren, Brandon (Cara), Bryan, Austin (Trinity); great-grandchildren, Trentin, Alana & Conner; siblings, the late Janice Craig (Bill), Jeanie Stewart, Steve Stewart (Mary), Joe Stewart (Elaine) and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm., Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46224. Prior to the service a private visitation for family begins at 10:00 am and family/friends from11:00-1:00 pm. Immediately following the service will be the burial at 2:30 pm. at Bethel Cemetery Association, Inc., 5252 W. 52nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
