Obituary of Kathleen Swift
Kathleen was born on June 19, 1928 to Emil and Olga R.Snyder in Cloverdale Indiana, the 4th of 7 children. After graduating from Cloverdale High she moved to Indianapolis for work, first at Fort Benjamin Harrison, and then at Allison/GM, where she met her husband William Thomas Swift. Married for more than 60 years, they raised 4 children while residing in the Chapel Hill neighborhood. She and Bill were founding members of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband and her youngest son, Robert Swift.
She is survived by her children Teresa Swift (Thomas Bennett), Martin Swift and Brian (Kristi) Swift, her sister Kay Walgren, many nieces and nephews and 5 granddogs.
Kathleen was an accomplished seamstress and liked to dress well throughout her life. She loved crafts, playing Euchre and bridge, bowling and gardening. She volunteered for several years — for the church, at the Girls’ School, and tutoring children to read at Westlake Elementary School. Mom also showed exceptional talent in assembling leaf and insect collections for her children’s school projects!
The family wishes to thank the staff at Traditions at Reagan Park for their devoted care to her in her final years, and to Life’s Journey Hospice.
