Obituary of Erika D. Batie
Erika D. Batie, 44, of Indianapolis passed away September 2, 2015. She was born December 15, 1970 in Indianapolis, IN.
Erika attended Los Palmas Elementary School in San Clemente, CA, North Terrace Elementary in Oceanside, CA, San Rafael Elementary in Oceanside, CA, Jefferson Jr. High and Oceanside High. She was employed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta, GA and Indianapolis, O'Charley's, Chi Chi's and TGIF. She was a member of Caldwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Illeana Johnson; paternal grandmother, Flossie Fletcher; maternal uncle, John A. Batie Jr. and maternal aunts, Lesley Floyd and Kathy Malone.
Erika is survived by her mother, Hillary Batie-Benson; father, Edward L. Benson Sr.; sister, Leonni; brother, Edward L. Benson Jr.; nephews, Marquis E. Benson and Zacquary A. Benson; nieces, Sequoia I. Nuckols, Queonni and Charaquee Guervitz; cousin, Mario L. Brown and Sylvia N. King; lifelong circle of friends, Torrance, Kennyetta, Corey, Phase and Tina and many many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her very very much.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 11 from 11 am - 1 pm with a funeral service at 1 pm in Serenity Funeral and Cremation Services, 6202 Michigan Rd., Indianapolis.
