Obituary of Charles Francis "Coffee Grinder" Tyler
Charles Francis Coffee Grinder Tyler, 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on August 12, 2017. Charles was born on May 11, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ernest and Helen Tyler. Charles attended elementary school in Terre Haute, IN and attended IPS High School. He was baptized at a young age in Terre Haute, IN at Lost Creek Baptist Church. Charles had many different jobs during his life, he worked as a car detailer for Tutwieler Cadillac for several years. He worked for Roadway Express, owned several semis, retired from Landstar as an owner/operator. He obtained several safe driving awards during his career. Charles was a Lead Instructor at Cummins Truck Driving School. Charles was also employed as a driving examiner at the BMV. Some of his hobbies included; fishing, bowling, motorcycle riding, and boxing. His love of his CB radio and "shooting skip" was another hobby; and in his later years became his passion. His handle was "Coffee Grinder", cause he grinds so fine. He was a grill master and he loved hosting the family gatherings. Charles loved his family. He loved trucking, and telling his trucking stories. Charles was a jack of all trades, he could build anything. He will be sorely missed by many.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Barbara Henson, Harold Tyler, Louise A. Wooden, Alma Jean Crawford, Larry R. Tyler and Ernest Tyler Jr.; daughter, Tina Tyler and grandson, Jaylen Tyler. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Jacqueline (Swanigan) Tyler; siblings, John H. Tyler and Alice M. Coe; children, Charles Tyler, Michael Tyler, Tammy Hardiman, Shana Graham, Veronica Chambers, Tony Tyler, Tonya Burton, Jerome (Akiva) Tyler and Jason (Emily) Tyler; honorary son, Steve Nelson; stepson, James Graham; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
