Obituary of Dennis Wayne Schaffer

Dennis Wayne Schaffer was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 5, 1954 to James Willis Schaffer and Louise Jackson. Both parents preceded Dennis in death. Dennis was affectionately called Denny by family and close friends. Dennis received his formal education through the Indianapolis Public School System. In 1972, Dennis graduated from George Washington High School. Dennis proudly served in the United States Army. Upon completion of his duty, Dennis returned to Indianapolis. Throughout life Dennis held several jobs, which included the City of Indianapolis Parks and Recreation, Indiana University Health Inc., Allied Barton Security Services and Walmart. But it was his love for barbering that drove Dennis to become a licensed barber. In becoming a barber Dennis was able to carry on the legacy left by his grandfather and father in the owning and operating of Schaffers Barber Shop. Dennis enjoyed hunting, playing chess, and a good challenging conversation about any subject matter with anybody. Barbering afforded Dennis, the opportunity to enjoy all these things. After accepting Christ as Savior, Dennis attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He also became a faithful participant in a Saturday morning mens Bible Study. Dennis was also preceded in death by his brother James Jimmy Schaffer on August 31, 2016. Dennis officially transitioned from this life on Thursday, September 7, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Joann Lanier (Stan), sister-in-law, Sandra Schaffer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. For we know that if this earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. -2 Cor. 5:1 NASB Visitation 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, September 15, 2017 Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 1301 N.
