Obituary of Robert Paul Babladelis

Robert Paul Babladelis, 41, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2018. Rob was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan and lived the first years of his life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on a farmstead with no electricity, phone, or running water. For much of his youth he lived on an environmental education center and attended Wayland, Michigan schools. He attended high school in Indianapolis, Indiana and continued to live there until the present. In the late 1990s he lived in Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast and was an important part of the community there. Rob had a good heart and people knew it. There were friendly greetings wherever he went on his daily travels. People loved Rob and knew that he was genuine and sincere. Professionally Rob worked a variety of jobs in Indianapolis ranging from freight cargo routing to rental maintenance to hotel services. He had a wide range of skills and a brilliant intellectual mind. Hobbies included reading, chess, current events, and as a teenager he attained the rank of brown belt in karate. He is survived by his life mate, Tonia Ehlers, his mother, Sheryl Babladelis, his father and stepmother, Paul and Patricia Babladelis, his sister, Nicholette Corn, and his step brothers and sisters, John T. Smieska III, Levi Merritt, and Angel Tuttle, his nephew, Ethan Babladelis and other extended family members. He also leaves behind two little dogs, Baby Bear and Puppy, his close companions. A private memorial service for family will be held at a future date.
