Obituary of Martha Singleton
Martha (Bokrandt) Singleton, 88, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on July 6, 2023 at her daughter, Diana's home in Fishers, IN.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Church at the Crossing, 9111 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240 on July 29, Saturday, at 11AM with Reverend Bruce Hazel of CATC officiating. Visitation will be held at 10AM at Church at the Crossing on Saturday, July 29.
Martha (Bokrandt) Singleton was born in Alt Alexandrovka, Russia to Edwin and Olga (Grieger) Bokrandt on August 23, 1934. She went to high school at Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis and graduated in 1954. She loved people and thrifting as well as working in her yard and gardening. She loved hosting her church group summer picnics each year and sharing her beautiful yard. She was an excellent cook. She loved reading, enjoyed her quiet time, and visiting with neighbors. She was an avid traveler and loved to cruise the Caribbean and Alaskan coastlines.
Her favorite activities included spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she was an active member of her church, and she was a faithful member with the Lydia's Ladies group. She lived a life of service to her family, and she also generously contributed to the African mission VPA (Village Project Africa) with those in the Life group.
Martha is survived by her sister, Ursula Good; her son, Ronald (& Donna) Singleton, (Her step granddaughter, Amy (& Brian) Schmitt, (Noah Fisher, Gracie, Lyla, and Mia Schmitt). Her daughter, Jonarea (& Andrew) Hansen, her grandchildren: Trevor (& Kaley) Hansen (Taylin & Kyler.) Amber (& Darren) Lanier, (Avery, Kaiden and Kalani, Declan) and Reed (& Desiree) Hansen, (Willow). Her son, Mark Lee Singleton, her grandchildren: Marcus Singleton, Nicholas (& Heather) Singleton, (Step great grandchildren: Morgan, (Nolan, Mason, Quentin) Charles Parker) and great grandchildren, Kamron (and her great, great grandchild, Kayla), and Khloe Singleton) and Lucas Singleton. Diana (& Dan) (Singleton) Kohlman, (Nathan & Jacob Kohlman.) Her nephew: Fredrick (& Lynette) Good, (Brittany (& Darren) Mann, (Eden & Titus), Breanna (& Anthony) Imperial (Atlas), Brooke (& Gabriel) Noriega (Liam & Raylan), Brielle & Bobby Harrell. Her nephew: Hartmut (& Cathy) Zaiser, (Cindy Chansely (Mitchell & Katelyn) & Eric Zaiser (Parker) & Nick Zaiser (Austin) Her nieces: Val (& Neil) Straussman, (Jason Straussman and Nicole (& Brittan) Allen (Peter). Cristal Bokrandt; (Arnold's son, Arend Bokrandt) and Lilli (& John) Koss. Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar W. Singleton, and her father and mother, Edwin, and Olga (Grieger) Bokrandt. Her brothers, Fritz and Rudolf (& Herta) her nephew, Arnold, and her sister, Adeline "Lena" (& Albert) Zaiser. Her nephew, Arthur and her niece, Rita). Her great grandnephew, David Alexander Zaiser. And her granddaughter, Lauren Kayla Singleton.
