Celebrating the Life of Ana "Leivis" De La Cruz
She came into this world on June 23, 1974 exercising what would always be her strong vocal cords. Everyone in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where she was born and raised, knew that she had arrived. She grew to be an amazing daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, auntie, her greatest role in life, Grandma, and friend. On the morning of July 19, 2023, she was called to her eternal home. She is survived by her two daughters,
Delanys and Keisley Velez, her granddaughter, Delilah Eskew, her mother, Lilian Fernandez, her two siblings, Yanuaria Bautista and Gustavo De La Cruz, grandmother, Ana Fernandez, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins.
She was known for her laughter, her singing, and most of all, her joyful attitude. She loved to dance and sing at the top of her voice no matter where she was or who was listening. She had the most beautiful voice. She enjoyed being in nature and definitely enjoyed her Starbucks. She made Amazon her workplace for past 5 years, where she was very much loved and appreciated, and where it became her second home.
Ana Leivis loved the Lord very much. She was the most God-loving, God-fearing woman. She was raised with very strong faith and values. She taught her children the same. Her love for the Lord compelled her to share the goodness of the Lord with anyone who would listen. It was her faith that gave her the strength and determination to face whatever life threw her way. She was known on the one hand, as being quiet, pensive, reflective, and a person of few words, while being full of life and robust and happy and jubilant at the same time. She brought a smile wherever she went, that always
put a smile on the face of whomever she encountered. Life was not easy for Ana Leivis. But, whenever she was faced with challenges and hard times, she always turned to the Lord and to the faith that had been instilled in her, knowing that this would carry her through any trials and tribulations she faced. She did an amazing job as a single mom. The fruit of her labors is seen in her two strong, independent, joy-filled daughters. She continued instilling these qualities in her granddaughter.
Ana Leivis was diagnosed with Leukemia. This horrible illness robbed her of the rest of her life in one month and three weeks. While her death has been a devastating shock to her numerous family members and friends, we know that God is in control of all things and that God never makes mistakes. It is with a heavy heart that we bid her farewell, but that sadness and sorrow turned to joy knowing that she is in her eternal home, with no more suffering, no more chemo, no more needles, and no more pain. She will always be remembered as the beautiful woman that she was, always with a smile on her face, always caring about the next person, whether she knew them or not. Heaven's gain is Earth's loss. Mom, sister, daughter, friend, auntie, cousin, grandma we will miss you greatly, but we praise God that He forever has you in the palm of His hands.
