Obituary
Obituary of Eileen Jensen
Eileen Guy Jensen, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was born in Salem Hospital, Salem, OH, on January 28, 1930, the only child of Roy and Florence Guy of Columbiana, OH. Eileen was a 1948 graduate of Columbiana High School and briefly attended Ohio State University. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 64 years, James E. Jensen of Salem, OH, and their son, Jeffrey W. Jensen of Burlington, KY. Eileen is survived by daughter Jodi Jensen (Jan), Indianapolis; Jill (Dennis) Sholl, Jamestown, NC; Jerilyn Jensen (Dennis), Lebanon, OH; daughter-in-law Barbara Jensen (widow of Jeff), Wilder, KY; grandchildren Amanda Aird, Indianapolis; Megan (Sandy) Jensen, Chanhassen, MN; Keri Jensen, Wilder, KY; Kaitlin Dougherty, Osgood, IN; Zachary (Brianna) Dougherty, Woodstock, CT; and great grandchildren Ava, Eleanor, and Liam. For many years, Eileen was active in a country line dancing group in Cincinnati, normally dancing 3 or 4 nights a week after work. After retiring in 1995, Eileen and Jim took their long-anticipated RV trip to visit all the states they had not been to. For six months, they traveled the U.S., including Alaska, ending with a flight to Hawaii. They sent weekly updates to the family along the way. When their trip was over, they settled in Bradenton, FL, where they resided until Jim's death in 2014. They loved their time in Bradenton and were active in several volunteer activities, most of which centered around the Gulf Shrine Club, local Salvation Army, and their church. Eileen thoroughly enjoyed gathering with all the great friends she made in their condo community. She stayed active by being in the pool nearly every day, riding her bike, and playing shuffleboard.
After Jim's death, Eileen moved to Robin Run Village senior living community in Indianapolis, just 5 minutes from daughter, Jodi, where she lived for nearly 9 years. Eileen was upbeat, very sociable, loved to laugh, loved to gather with family, and was always looking for fun things to do. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A casual drop-in is planned for Friday, Jan. 26th, 2024, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., in the Activities room of the main tower building at Robin Run Village. Friends and family are invited to stop by and share their memories of Eileen.
