Obituary of Donna Belle Barringer
Our dear mother, Donna Belle Barringer, sadly passed away on January 3 2024 at the age of 87 in her home at Hoosier Village, Indianapolis, IN. She had many friends and was a well-loved resident of Hoosier Village.
As a child she would help her father Guy in his sawmill and saved money to buy herself a piano and a table set for her parent's kitchen. Donna was active in cheerleading, marching band and Choir prior to graduating from Mio High School in Mio, MI. After High School she moved to Port Huron, MI to help take care of her brother Lyle Reaume's children. She also worked at South Eastern Michigan Gas until she met her husband, Richard, at a party. She was the ultimate mother and homemaker and her children were her pride and joy. She was a thoughtful and generous person, handing out chocolate to all those that helped and visited her. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for making bread from scratch, baking "Grandma's" cheesecake, and canning all the of the produce from the family's garden. She also made clothes for her family, including Halloween costumes, and formal gowns for her daughter's school dances, band concerts, and SC4 symphony concerts. She made dresses for her granddaughters, her grandson's christening gown, and hid Dutch boy outfit. She chaperoned all the school and band trips for her children, was an avid reader, enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, making hooked rugs, crafts, working on her flower gardens, and frequently completed painting and wall paper projects, when her husband went out of town.
She played golf in the Elks club women's league and she had birthday lunches every year with her friends that shared the same birthday. She traveled extensively with her family and friends in the USA, Caribbean islands, Ireland, and Germany. She retired with her husband Richard to the Cayman Islands until shortly before Richard's passing, at which time she moved to Indianapolis, IN to be closer to her family.
Donna was predeceased by her husband Richard "Buck", her parents Guy and Mabel Seaton (Hall), and her siblings: Guy Seaton Jr, Lyle Reaume Sr., Mildred Woodruff Provoast (Reaume), Lester Reaume, Daniel Reaume, George Reaume, and Anna May Long (Reaume),
Donna is survived by her children Matthew (Dawn) Barringer and Robin (Todd) Strang, her Grand Children: Caitlin Barringer, Elizabeth Barringer, Christopher Strang, Hilary (Tom) Miller and Justine McGhee, 8 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
