Obituary of Jeffrey Gearries
Jeffrey Wayne Gearries, 56, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home in Speedway, IN after battling Glioblastoma brain cancer. His funeral will be held Friday, February 16 at Stevens Mortuary followed by a procession to West Ridge Park, where he will be placed in the mausoleum next to his brother-in-law and nephew.
Jeffrey was born July 3, 1967 to Jerry and Dianne Gearries. He attended Wayne Township Schools and worked several occupations before finding a career in trucking dispatch.
Jeffrey (Jeff) was a huge sports fan and loved to fish with his grandsons. He also loved racing and never missed an Indy Car or Brickyard race.
Jeff loved our country and was very proud to be an American. He loved animals and children, especially his grandchildren. He would help anyone who asked him. He was a true family man.
Jeff had three younger brothers who he helped care for growing up. He loved them so much and was so proud of the men they became.
Jeff had four grandsons and three granddaughters whom he adored and was also a proud uncle of lots of nieces and nephews.
Jeff absolutely loved his family and his life and never once complained about his illness. He was tough as nails and could grill anything and make it delicious. He loved family cookouts and his favorite vacation spots.
Jeff married Rachel and they built a beautiful family together with their three daughters and he would always express how blessed he was and how proud he was of their girls. He was one of the good guys and will be so deeply missed.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Gearries.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Gearries; daughters, Charlina, Andrea and Alyson; brothers, Jason, Josh and Jeremy; sisters-in-law, Lisa, Sara and Allison; mother, Dianne Ferguson; step-father, Gary Ferguson; step-mother, Toby Gearries; mother and fathers-in-law, Joyce and James Owens; sons-in-law, Jeremy Linam and Hunter Garcia.
