Obituary of Grace Voight
Grace M. Ruthenbeck Voight was born in Niles Center, IL on July 1, 1926 to Emil and Meta Ruthenbeck. Her only sister, Ethyle, was 13 years her senior. The family moved to Northbrook, IL when Grace was a child. She attended Crestwood School. At the Village Presbyterian Church Grace attended Sunday school, was confirmed, and later married Virgil Voight on October 20, 1951. Grace, with her mother and sister, moved to Chicago after her father’s death in 1940. She attended Kelvin Park High. Grace worked for General Binding Corporation in Northbrook, IL for 38 years. She and Virgil retired to Chandler, AZ in 1995, and relocated to Plainfield IN in 2008 to live near their only daughter, Susan. Throughout her life Grace enjoyed gatherings with her large family. Her nephews and nieces and their extended families were always treasured by Grace, as were the many friends she and Virgil made with dear neighbors, co-workers, and members of the Northbrook Camping Club. Grace enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was an animal lover. Her husband, Virgil, preceded her in death in July of 2019. A celebration of life for both Grace and Virgil will take place on December 4, 2023, 11AM at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines IL.
