Obituary of Jeanine A. Smith
Jeanine Ann Smith age 74 of Speedway, IN passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born October 23, 1948, in Richmond, Indiana to Morris Lee and Thelma Deubner. She lived in Richmond, IN until moving to Speedway, IN in 1997 to follow her love of racing and working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She was a graduate of Richmond High School in 1967. While in Richmond she worked in retail. Over the years she worked in several roles over the years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including traveling all over the United States with her beloved Husband. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Speedway. She formed, and was President of, the original Tim Richmond Fan Club; and helped her Sister Carol with many assets of the A.J. Foyt Fan Club. For many years she volunteered at the American Legion Post 65 in Richmond, as well as St Andrews Lutheran Church in Speedway. Jeanine loved every aspect of auto racing, watching sports, her “Happy Place” which was her Florida home, her dog Sassy Jo, Jesus, and many memories with her family and friends that she loved so much. Survivors include her Husband of 29 years Kenny Smith to whom she married at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway May 30, 1994; Son A.J. (Kathy) Hendrix of Land O’Lakes, Florida; Daughter Angela Hendrix of Newburgh, IN and Terrie Messer of Speedway, IN; Bonus Children Shelley (John) Offenbacher of Lewisburg, OH and Todd (Jessica) Smith of Lewisburg, Ohio; Grandchildren: Trent, Jeffrey, Anthony, Adriana, Tiffany, Payton, Dakota, Jacob, Landon, Nathan, Jaxson and Addy; Great Grandchild Paisley Lynn; Sister Beverly Wadsworth of Richmond, IN; Sister-In-Law Lois Skinner; Brother-In-Law Everett (Phyllis) Smith; Brother-In-Law Alan (Robin) Smith; Nieces; Nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her first Husband Jim Hendrix; Brother Donald Lee Deubner; Sisters Lavonne Meinsen and Carol Graham; Brother-In-Law Bob Wadsworth, Bobby Gibson and Bill Meinsen; Sister-In-Law Linda Deubner; Grandsons Jered Branham and Jordan Messer; Visitation will be at Stevens Mortuary located at 5520 West 10th Street, Speedway, IN from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St Andrews Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 6118 Crawfordsville Road, Speedway, IN 46224.
