Obituary of Alyssa R. Hawkins
Alyssa R. Hawkins, 22, of Indianapolis passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. She was born in Indianapolis to Joseph Aaron Hawkins and Stephanie L. Smith on March 23, 2001. Alyssa graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2019. She worked for Dairy Queen from 2017 until 2021. In 2021, she began working for Costco in Avon where she was currently employed. Alyssa had a beautiful soul, she was witty, fun-loving, courageous and strong. She packed her 22 years of life with laughter and love. Alyssa wanted to give the gift of life to others by being an organ donor just as her dad did 18 years ago. Her family and friends consider her a true hero. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Hawkins; grandfathers, Daniel D. Hawkins Sr. and Michael H. Dryer; grandmother, Patricia Rose (Leggans) Hawkins; aunts, Dana Hawkins and Christina K. (Dryer) Struver; and uncles, Daniel D. Hawkins Jr. and James Hawkins. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Stephanie L. and Daniel Smith; grandmothers, Kathleen M. (Mader) Dyer and Linda S. Smith; grandfather, Thomas M. Smith; aunts, Debbie Carter, Michele A. (Kevin) Hernly and Tammy (Larry) Strunk; and her uncles, Gene Michael Hawkins, Tony (Deidra) Smith and Scott (Nancy) Smith; and many cousins.
