Obituary of John Wayne Spencer
John W. Spencer, 79, of Plainfield, IN passed away on August 12, 2022. He was born in Indianapolis to Wayne A. and Mary E. Spencer on July 25, 1943. John worked for the United States Post Office from 1965 until 1968 when he joined the United States Navy. He served his country until 1971 when he was honorably discharged, he returned to the United States Post Office until 1979. In 1980, he began working for the Naval Avionics Center until retirement. John enjoyed bowling, he held a 195 average and golfing single digit handicap. He also enjoyed fishing and softball. He coached Little League Baseball and Soccer. John was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne A. and Mary E. Spencer; wife, Karen Lynn Spencer; and sisters, Mary Louise Viles, Shirley Ann Hartloff, Sandra Lee Starks and Melissa Persinger. He is survived by his son, John Spencer; grandchildren, Austin Spencer, Evan Spencer and Emalee Spencer; great grandchild, Anika-Ann Spencer; sisters, Norma Jean Butler and Jeanine Rene Logsdon; brothers, Donald Ray Spencer, Martin Russell Spencer and William Joyner; and several nieces and nephews.
