Obituary of George Kennard Traut
George Kennard Traut, a true Renaissance Man, was born in Richmond, Indiana on February 23, 1945 to Elva and Charles Milton, who predeceased him. Indianapolis became home to Ken at an early age and here he completed his education at George Washington High School and where he was a drummer for the marching band and the orchestra.
Music continued to be an important part of Ken’s life. His tastes ranged from Souza marches, to classical pieces, country and gospel. Elvis was the one artist for Ken.
The insurance industry was Ken’s career. He started in Indiana Insurance’s mail room to rise to manager of the personal lines. His charisma could chain the most resistant into agreement. That gentle, compassionate nature was evident, even though he had a strong will that was always exercised with gentle charm.
Left to know his memory are Maryann Alexander, his wife of 24 years, Kenny David Traut, son; Greg Brodnek, step son; Terry Brodnek, step son; Carolyn Page, sister; Linda (Paul) Cross, sister; thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation will follow the services, In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s name to the Alzheimer’s Associations or the Humane Society are requested.
