Obituary of Peter Munn
Peter Munn
12/5/1923 to 12/19/2018
Peter Munn was a man of many talents and interests. He and wife Lorraine raised six children. He started restaurants. He served in three branches of the military: U.S. Army; U.S. Marines; and, Royal Canadian Air Force. Peter loved to paint—he expressed himself in his watercolors –and he was generous to others with his artwork. He loved to fly. He rebuilt a vintage W.W. II aircraft and flew aerobatics. He found enjoyment in scaring anyone who dared to fly with him. He loved to golf and related many lessons in life to golf. Golf was his passion and his nemesis. Peter was also a dog lover. He always had an adopted loyal dog or two in his life. Volunteering was important to Peter: he tutored students with their art and reading and volunteered at nursing homes.
Peter loved his family and always enjoyed family events. Dancing and music—especially Frank Sinatra-- were joys. He would take any opportunity to use his quick wit to make others laugh.
Peter was fortunate to have two wonderful relationships in his life. He and wife Lorraine were a solid team, raising six children for 38 years until her death in 1984. Peter was lucky enough to later meet his companion Eileen, with whom he spent the next 26 years. They never missed an opportunity to socialize with friends and family, dances and festivals.
Peter was preceded in death by beloved wife Lorraine and long-time companion Eileen. He is also preceded in death by son Peter who died at the age 20. He is survived by sons Lance Munn (Vicki), Steven Munn (Debbie), daughters Laura Miller (Fred), Sheila Stevens and Debbie Kelly (Mike). He had ten grandchildren: Shannon Munn, Brian Munn (Takayo), Kelly Munn, Eric Munn (Angela), Ryan Munn, Michael Kelly (Adam), Joseph Kelly (Anna), Steven Miller (Laura), Jonathan Miller (Brooke), Kay Stevens. He had four great grandchildren: Piper, Maiza, Lilly and Michael.
In lieu of flowers, the Munn family suggests a donation to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 N. Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268 (www. Indyhumane.org).
