Obituary of Spiro Angelo Purichia
Spiro A. Purichia of Indianapolis, IN. passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Josephine Purichia and siblings, Bill Purichia, Nicholas Purichia and sister Nula Harmon: Son, Joseph Spiro Purichia, Grandson David Newsom and Great Grandson Brady Capps and caring companion Rose Moran.
Spiro (P.A.) worked for Monarch Beverage Beer Distributor, Todd & Justak Beer Distributor and retired from Olinger Distributor in 1993. He was a member of Local 716 and Local 135 Teamster Union. He worked for 14 years at South Grove Golf Course in the Maintenance Division and 14 years at Carquest Auto Parts as a delivery driver.
Spiro (P.A.) served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received the highest honor given to a military soldier, an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of VFW Post #98, American Legion Post #497 and Amvet Post # 99.
Along with his family, Spiro (P.A.) enjoyed many other interests in life. Bowling, golfing, spending time with his friends at the VFW, Legion Hall and Amvets Posts were a few. He also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts, trying to hit the lottery and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Program.
Children: Terry Newsom, Indianapolis, IN., Trina Purichia, Indianapolis, IN., Catherine (Mark) Nuckolls, Indianapolis, IN., David (Teresa) Purichia, Glasgow, KY., and Nephew Mark Purichia, Indianapolis, IN.
Five Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He is survived by siblings, Catherine Dugar of Indianapolis, IN., Mike (Duke) Purichia of Indianapolis, IN., Carol (Donna) Purichia of Indianapolis, IN., Joe (Janet) Purichia of Greenwood, IN., and Steve (Sylvia) Purichia of Carmel, IN.
Viewing will be Friday, October 12 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10TH Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 13 at 11:00 AM at Stevens Mortuary, with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Ave. Indianapolis.
