Obituary of Marcella E Marshall
Marcella Edith Marshall passed away at home on March 22, 2018. She was born on January 1, 1924, the daughter of Flavius and Florence Bonin Campbell in St. Paul, MN. Marcella graduated from St. Catherine’s College with a teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Long Prairie, MN before marrying Frederick J. Marshall in December, 1946. After Fred completed his PhD at Iowa State University, they relocated to Indianapolis, IN. It was there that they raised their family of seven children.
Marcella was an avid card player and golfer. She also was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Child Center for many years and was a member of her church women’s club. Her life was centered around her family and her church. Besides Minnesota, she loved the time spent at the family cottage in Michigan.
Surviving are six children: Mary Margaret (Robert) Foreman, West Lafayette, IN; Suzanne (Rodger) Elble, Springfield, IL; Frederick J. (June) Marshall, Farmington Hills, MI; Rita Marshall (Etienne Delessert), Lakeville, CT.; Timothy Marshall (Emily Moore-Marshall) , Ann Arbor, MI; Maureen (Rick) Marshall-Doss, Indianapolis, IN. She will also be lovingly remembered by her 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Bender and many nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Fred and a daughter, Jane Marshall as well as two brothers and her parents.
Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th St Indianapolis, IN is entrusted with arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 3354 W. 30th St. Indianapolis with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery, Brooklyn, MI. on April 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
Donations in Marcella’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assn., the American Heart Assn., or the Gennesaret Free Clinic (Indianapolis).
