Obituary of Alma Jean Detamore-Haase
Alma Jean Detamore-Haase, 73, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on October 23, 2017. Jean was born on May 9, 1944 to Lionel Dale Detamore and Ruth Rose Detamore-Burgin. Jean was a RN for 47 years, working at St. Vincent Hospital, Wishard Memorial Hospital and Witham Memorial Hospital – Larue Carter Memorial Hospital where she was the head nurse of admissions. She was a Girl Scout and long-time Girl Scout leader helping shape the lives of young women. She was a member of her High School Band in the Drum Core and a center on her basketball team. She volunteered her time as a soccer coach, Sunday school teacher and was the second mother to all the neighborhood kids. She was a Bible bowl coach and quiz master. Jean enjoyed scrapbooking, and most of all spending quality time with her family. Jean deeply loved and cared for all her family members in need. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Jim Allen Burgin; step-mother, Geraldine Hannah Slagle-Detamore; brother Steven Detamore; sisters, Nancy Darlene Acuna and Paula Dee Detamore; step-brothers Jeff Slagle and Carl Burgin; step-sister, Ruth Soloman; brother-in-law, Paul Russell Chapple. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Ronald Haase; daughter, Melissa (Roderick) Greene of Indianapolis; son, Scott Haase of Indianapolis; special daughter, Holly (Jeff) Joyce of Indianapolis; grandson, Isaiah Greene of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Alexandra Haase of Indianapolis; brother, James Howard Yost of Ohio-Penn; sister, Linda Chapple; niece, Rachelle(Brad) Fritz of Lebanon, great-neice Ashleigh Wamsley of Lebanon; step-sisters, Dreama Sue Williams and Jane (David) Clark; step-brother, Randall David Slagle; great-nephews, Lakota Wamsley and Gregory Birge of Lebanon; nephews, Jeff (Melissa) Detamore of Greenwood, Lucas Starr and Zachary Starr and their families of Illinois and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends that she so dearly loved. Alma Jean Detamore-Haase was loved by so many and will be missed by all. The family wishes to let everyone know that this will be a “Celebration of Life”. Jean loved the Colts and the Fever, so please come dressed in your favorite Colts or Fever gear. She would have wanted that way! Memorial contribution may be made in Alma Jean’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Stevens Mortuary 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, with visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service.
