Obituary of Edward DeWeese
Edward A. DeWeese 61, of Indianapolis, was born July 27, 1948. Ed raised his family on the Southwest side of town. He passed away, peacefully, March 20, 2010. Edward is survived by his wife, Rita A. Starrett-DeWeese; daughter, Theresa A. (Jonathan) DeWeese-Duncan and Terry A. (Brian) DeWeese-Forsyth; siblings, Calvin DeWeese, Loren DeWeese, Jack DeWeese, Kay DeWeese-Rieu and Colleen DeWeese-Begley; 18 month old granddaughter, Bailey and unborn grandson, Jordan. Edward joined the United States Army March 27, 1967 and served two full tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Presidential Citation and the Combat Infantry Badge. After serving his country in war, he continued his army career in the Indiana Army National Guard, beginning in March of 1973, where he served as an armament inspector at Stout Field and later, as maintenance personal at Tyndall Armory. Edward retired from the U.S. Army in July of 2008. Edward was a life member of the VFW Post 2839 and Post 908, as well as a life member of the American Legion Post 64. He served as a board member of the trustees for the Legion for the last two years. He enjoyed donating his time to help these clubs perform their charitable events, but most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his loving family. He is greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Stevens Mortuary & Family Center, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions made to the Marcia R.
