She grew up helping on the family farm. Diane graduated from Switz City Central High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, she spent the summer of 1958 as a camp cook at Camp Potawotami in northern Indiana. She graduated from Porter Business School in 1959 and was hired at Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1959 where she worked until the end of 1966 when her first child was adopted, a second child was adopted in 1969. She was a stay at home Mom and started a home child care in 1973 and continued that until 1978. After being a stay at home Mom she decided it was time to go back to work. She went to work for Truck Rail Truck Service as a secretary from 1978 until 1980. She left Truck Rail Truck Service and went to work for Geupel DeMars in August of 1980. She wore many hats in her 30 years at Geupel DeMars before retiring in July of 2010. Diane loved hunting for mushrooms in the spring and playing cards anytime she could find someone to sit down with her. She loved double pinochle and euchre. She taught not only her own kids but neighborhood kids how to play and there were many times the house was filled with the sounds of kids playing cards. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and could be found on many Sundays with the newspaper working the crossword until it was completed. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, the harder the better.
